* Cedric Bozeman, a junior from Mater Dei, has orally committed to play basketball at UCLA after his senior year, said Mater Dei Coach Gary McKnight Friday.
Bozeman, a guard, was a starter last season but was forced to sit out the last part of the season because of a knee injury. He was a first-team All-South Coast League selection and is the team captain.
BASEBALL
Angel and Yankee players will help celebrate the 60th anniversary of Lou Gehrig’s induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame with a luncheon Sunday at Anaheim’s Sun Theatre (formerly Tinseltown Studios) near Edison Field.
The luncheon, which is open to the public, will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and benefits the ALS Assn. of Orange County.
Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children 3-12.

* The Phoenix House, a substance abuse recovery center in Santa Ana, will name its baseball diamond Gary DiSarcina Field in honor of the Angel shortstop who donated funds to refurbish the facility through Angels Care.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Cypress, playing without head coach Ray Haas, who had double bypass surgery last week, defeated host West Valley, 3-1, in women’s soccer. Haas is expected to miss at least five weeks, according to interim coach Larry Mercadante.
