Nickeas, Adamczyk Help Give Westlake One for the Books

Mike Nickeas hit a two-run home run to lead Westlake High over Royal, 8-5, in a Marmonte League baseball game Wednesday at Westlake.
Westlake (15-0, 8-0), top-ranked in the region by The Times, tied a school record for consecutive victories.
Nickeas’ blast highlighted a four-run first inning for the Warriors.
Cory Taillon had three hits for Westlake and Tyler Adamczyk had two hits, including a solo home run, and drove in two runs for Westlake.
Simi Valley 5, Moorpark 3--John Arisohn hit a two-run home run and a two-run triple for the Pioneers (9-6, 4-4) in a Marmonte League victory at Simi Valley.
Thousand Oaks 11, Newbury Park 2--Adam Leavitt had three hits and drove in two runs for the Lancers (14-3, 7-1) in a Marmonte League victory at Thousand Oaks.
Tracy Goebel had two hits and struck out six in four innings.
Quartz Hill 2, Littlerock 1--Tyler Simi’s run-scoring single in the sixth inning lifted the Rebels in a Golden League game at Littlerock.
Steve Olmscheid (1-1) struck out nine and allowed three hits in 6 1/3 innings for Quartz Hill (7-7, 2-5).
Lancaster 15, Antelope Valley 5--Jason Anderson had a double and six runs batted in, and Darryl Smith had a home run and four RBIs in a Golden League game at Lancaster (11-5, 5-1).
Tony Ortiz had a double and two RBIs for the Eagles.
Jordi Carlon had three RBIs for Antelope Valley (5-6, 2-4).
Poly 9, Grant 4--Right-hander Eduardo Baeza struck out 10 and David Valencia had two hits and two RBIs for the Parrots (11-3, 8-0), who opened a two-game lead in the Sunset Six League at Poly.
Felipe Tetelboin had three hits for Grant (8-7, 6-2). Michael Marble made his first pitching appearance for Grant since separating his shoulder two months ago, pitching two innings of relief.
Verdugo Hills 13, Hollywood 0--Daniel Serrano had three hits and three RBIs, and pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts in a Sunset Six League game at Hollywood halted after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
Verdugo Hills is 6-4, 4-4.
North Hollywood 18, Canoga Park 1--Andy Gutierrez tripled, homered and finished with five hits and four RBIs in a Sunset Six League game at Lanark Park.
The Huskies are 10-8, 6-2.
St. Bonaventure 6, Fillmore 1--Tucker Bennett (5-1) pitched a five-hitter and faced only four batters over the minimum for the Seraphs in a Tri-Valley League game at Fillmore.
Catcher Jeff Springgate had four hits and three RBIs for St. Bonaventure (9-2-1, 5-1).
Hart 3, Upland 2--Chris Gagnon’s single to left field in the bottom of the sixth inning scored Matt Friedrichsen with the winning run in a Babe Herman tournament game at Stengel Field in Glendale.
Phil Tognetti pitched a four-hitter and struck out six in six innings for Hart (15-3).
Bill Susdorf and Evan Anderson each had a double and an RBI for the Indians.
Saugus 14, Fullerton Troy 4--Rusty Coleman hit a two-run triple and a two-run double for the Centurions in the fifth-place game of the Gladstone tournament.
Casey Benesch had four hits and two RBIs for Saugus (6-10-1).
Channel Islands 7, Nordhoff 3--Kevin Ysles had three RBIs and Eric Rodriguez had two RBIs in a Gold Coast tournament game at Nordhoff.
Scott Drew had two RBIs for Nordhoff (8-4).
Channel Islands improved to 10-6-1.
