SoCal Girls Win 16s Title at Water Polo Junior Olympics

The SoCal girls’ 16-and-under team defeated San Diego Shores, 10-9, in overtime, to win the National Junior Olympic water polo tournament final at El Toro High Thursday. Breana Allison, from Foothill High, scored the winning goal, her second, in overtime.
Grace Reynolds, who will be in seventh grade this fall, scored twice for SoCal and goalie Emily Feher had nine saves.
In the semifinals, Brittany Hayes, from Foothill High, scored three goals to help SoCal defeat Orange County Aquatics (ORCA), 6-3.
The SoCal 18-and-under team finished third, defeating San Diego Shores, 8-7. Gabbie Domanic and Hayes each scored two goals for SoCal.
SoCal lost to Navy (Annapolis, Md.), 6-5, in the semifinals. Navy defeated ORCA in the final, 7-1.
The SoCal 14-and-under team lost in the final to Northern Illinois, 6-2. In the semifinals, SoCal defeated Long Beach Shore, , 5-4, in overtime, with Jillian Kraus scoring three goals for SoCal.
