Woman Dies as Car Hits Parked Truck

A Saticoy woman was killed Friday after her car slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer truck parked on Vineyard Avenue just north of Central Avenue in Ventura.
Valerie Sandoval Gonzalez died at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard at 4:29 p.m from massive head injuries, said Craig Stevens, medical examiner at the Ventura County coroner’s office.
The 46-year-old woman was driving at an unknown speed at 2:08 p.m. when her car drifted onto the right shoulder and struck the truck’s rear trailer, said Claude Ball, dispatcher for the California Highway Patrol.
The truck was parked legally and the driver was not in the vehicle at the time of the accident, authorities said.
