Woman Apparently Drowns in Northridge Pool

NORTHRIDGE — A woman apparently drowned in her backyard pool about 5 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.
The woman, whose name was not released, was described as being in her 40s.
“She was found by her female partner in the pool,” said Brian Humphrey, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman. “The partner tried to pull her out of the pool, but was unable to do so.”
Paramedics got her from the pool but could not resuscitate her, Humphrey said.
She was pronounced dead at the home in the 8500 block of Newcastle Avenue.
“It appears to be a drowning, but the exact cause will be decided by the coroner’s office,” he said.
