Top-seeded Simi Valley Grace Brethren won its third consecutive Division VI championship by defeating previously unbeaten Bloomington Christian, 13-0, at Blair Field in Long Beach.
The game was halted after 4 1/2 innings because of the 10-run rule. It was the largest margin of victory in a Southern Section championship game since Santa Monica Crossroads defeated Woodcrest Christian, 18-2, for the Small Schools Division title in 1985.
Senior right-hander Tim Thompson (17-2), who last month broke Scott McGregor’s Southern Section record of 51 career victories, got his 56th win.
In Division V:
Riverside Woodcrest Christian 5, Carpinteria 2--Joel Schelling (11-1) gave up nine hits and struck out 11 to lead Woodcrest Christian (22-6-1) to the title at Blair Field.
It was the first championship in three title-game appearances for the Royals.
Carpinteria finished 17-7.
