Ticket Scalping

* Re your June 8 ticket scalping article: In August 1998, I took the boat back from vacationing in Catalina to buy tickets for Jimmy Buffett’s Irvine Meadows October concert. Going on the assumption that the Crenshaw district was not a major nest for “Parrotheads,” I was at the local Ticketmaster outlet when tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. My hunch proved right: I was the only person there. This was a dream come true, and after going to his concerts for over 20 years I thought I was finally going to get good seats. Wrong! My tickets came out of the computer at 10:06 and they were in the last row.
Is there collusion between the venues, promoters, brokers and artists? It sure looks that way.
