Rifle May Be Tied to Militant Slaying Case

FBI officials in Atlanta said that a high-powered assault rifle found in the Alabama woods where Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin was captured this week could be the weapon that was used to kill a sheriff’s deputy in Atlanta. The rifle, a .223-caliber Ruger, was found near the site where U.S. marshals cornered Al-Amin, 56, formerly known as H. Rap Brown, a 1960s Black Panther leader. Police said the rifle matches the description of the weapon that fired the bullets that killed Fulton County Deputy Ricky Kinchen.
