The Humane Society of Ventura County has scheduled its annual “Santa and Me” photo sessions today from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. at the Humane Society Thrift Store, 540 E. Main St.
Santa Claus will be available for photos with cats, dogs, horses, birds, rabbits, chickens, pigs, snakes and reindeer, said Tim Dewar, a Humane Society spokesman. Appointments are not necessary.
The event is one of the society’s major fund-raisers and Dewar said the organization hopes to raise $5,000, which will go toward operating expenses, feeding and housing animals at the society’s Ojai shelter, and for an emergency medical loan program.
The cost is $15 for one 4-by-5-inch photo of a pet with Santa. Negatives or extra photographs are available for an additional donation, he said.
Two more “Santa and Me” photo sessions will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 18 at the Wharf, 980 E. Front St. in Ventura; and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 2 at the Humane Society Animal Shelter, 402 Bryant St., Ojai.
