Gwen Jackson scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Semeka Randall added 16 points as No. 2 Tennessee opened its season with a 94-52 win over DePaul at Knoxville, Tenn.
Rometra Craig scored 19 points as No. 3 Duke beat William & Mary, 81-46, in the Blue Devils’ home opener at Durham, N.C. . . . Marie Ferdinand and Kisha James each scored 24 points as No. 9 Louisiana State routed Sam Houston State, 92-52, at Baton Rouge, La. . . . LaNeishea Caufield had 22 points and seven rebounds to lead No. 14 Oklahoma (2-0) to an 87-56 victory over Oral Roberts in the Bertha Teague Classic at Tulsa, Okla. . . . Angelina Wolvert scored 19 points and No. 24 Oregon took advantage of poor free throw shooting by No. 16 Wisconsin to defeat the Badgers 71-57 in the GlaxoWellcome Invitational at Raleigh, N.C. The Ducks will play No. 19 N.C. State, who routed Elon, 84-40, despite having three of its top four scorers out with knee injuries. . . . Jackie Stiles, the nation’s leading scorer last season, had 33 points to lead No. 21 Southwest Missouri State to a 97-34 season-opening romp over Arkansas Little Rock at Springield, Mo. . . . Anne O’Neil scored 18 points to lead No. 25 Illinois over Clemson, 80-62, in the season opener for both teams at Champaign, Ill.
