UCLA linebacker Asi Faoa was ordered to stand trial on two felony counts filed after Faoa allegedly punched a fellow UCLA student in the head at a campus party last April.
Faoa must face one count each of mayhem and assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said. Arraignment is scheduled Dec. 12.
Faoa, 19, is charged with throwing a punch that caused brain damage to UCLA student Rodrigo Dezubiria. Faoa pleaded not guilty to the charges in an initial arraignment before Tuesday’s preliminary hearing.
The 6-foot-4, 266-pound Faoa remains free on $25,000 bail.
