Police Investigate Cause of Shooting

In what authorities believe was either an accident or a case of Russian roulette, a 23-year-old man was shot in the head while visiting friends, authorities said Sunday.
Frank Gene Chiacchiera was on life support at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard following the Saturday afternoon incident at a home in the 1700 block of East Hobart Avenue in Camarillo, authorities said.
“They do not have any statements that he was trying to commit suicide,” said Ventura County Sheriff’s Capt. Mike Colon.
Detectives interviewed Chiacchiera’s friends, who were apparently in the same room where the shooting occurred, but they released no details on those statements or who owned the gun. There were no arrests, Colon said.
Colon said it was unclear where Chiacchiera resides but that he had been visiting friends in Camarillo. Authorities located his father in Victorville on Saturday, and he apparently was headed to Oxnard to be with his son.
