The Coach in Westwood Doesn’t Escape Either

Let me see if I understand this. Two years ago, UCLA lets its defensive coordinator, Nick Aliotti, go to Oregon because the defense cost the Bruins a chance for a national championship. In his place, Toledo has the great foresight to rehire Bob Field, who succeeds in fielding one of the worst defenses ever, last year, and a slightly better but well below average defense this year. Now, Oregon with Aliotti has one of the best defenses in the Pac-10 and UCLA has one of the worst defenses again.
The guru, Field, continues to impress the fans by designing a defense that allows the powerful Cal offense (average of 13 points a game) to score 28 points before overtime, and another 18 during overtime. Is this your idea of progress, Toledo?
