Heralds Earn 19-16 Victory in Overtime

Whittier Christian wide receiver Anthony Ruiz scored on a 25-run in overtime as the Heralds beat Ontario Christian, 19-16, in an Olympic League game Friday in Ontario.
Ontario Christian led, 13-7, late in the fourth quarter when Knight running back Chris Edwards fumbled at the Whittier Christian 10-yard line and linebacker Tim Aldeanu recovered. The Heralds then scored with 1 minute 22 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to make the score 13-13, but the extra point was blocked and the game went to overtime.
Ontario Christian took a 16-13 lead when Ryan TeVelde kicked a 24-yard field goal, but Ruiz’ touchdown on a pitch from quarterback Abe Santos gave the Heralds the victory.
Ruiz caught touchdown passes of 60 and five yards in regulation and also had an interception for Whittier Christian (3-4, 1-1). Aldeanu also had an interception for the Heralds.
