* Kickoff: 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Rose Bowl, Fox Sports Net 2.
* Story line: With Alabama just behind and Michigan and Oregon just ahead, this is as close as the Bruins get to a break in the first month, an opponent that was picked to finish second in the Western Athletic Conference. Fresno State, which opened at Ohio State, is playing ranked opponents in consecutive weeks for the first time.
* UCLA update: The win over then-No. 3 Alabama was the biggest victory, going by rankings, in 10 years. The last time the Bruins beat a team as high was Nov. 10, 1990, against No. 2 Washington.
* Fresno State update: The Bulldogs have problems beyond the schedule. Safety Anthony Limbrick, an All-Western Athletic Conference selection last season, is probably out for the season because of a broken thumb suffered against Ohio State. And the leader of the defense, linebacker Tim Skipper, hopes to return after missing much of last week because of a shoulder injury.
* Edge to: UCLA. Bruins continue to ride the Tide of emotion from Alabama game.
The line: UCLA by 14.
