A man was arrested at noon Tuesday after a two-mile vehicle chase abruptly ended when a reportedly stolen Ford Bronco overturned and threw the driver from the vehicle onto Marguerite Parkway near Center Drive in Mission Viejo.
The man was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center for minor injuries, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
The man allegedly stole the green Bronco outside Fast Check Food Market on Marguerite Parkway after the owner left the keys in it, said Steve Doan, a sheriff’s investigator.
The chase began when the man tried to flee from police, running several red lights along the way, Doan said.
The pursuit ended when the car ran off the road, overturning and rolling down an embankment.
When the man tried to escape, officers took him into custody, said Doan.
Authorities did not release the man’s name.
