Royal 38, Channel Islands 7--James Cox threw four touchdown passes, all in the first half for the Highlanders (2-0) in their home opener.
Robert Davis caught two touchdown passes of three and 15 yards. Greg Morris scored twice, on a 54-yard pass play and a 40-yard run.
Cox completed 15 of 29 passes for 215 yards, 201 coming in the first half.
Royal harassed quarterbacks Eric Diaz and David Herrera, registering five sacks while holding Channel Islands (1-1) to 23 yards passing with two completions in 19 attempts. Augie Castaneda spoiled the shutout with 2:19 remaining when he scored on a seven-yard run.
