Castro Celebrates 75th Birthday Until Dawn

As President Fidel Castro enjoyed his 75th birthday in Venezuela, Cuban state media paid lyrical tribute to the “Maximum Leader” and supporters cut cakes, sang songs and held marches in his honor.
“We Cubans wake up happy today,” Susana Lee wrote in the ruling Communist Party’s daily, Granma.
Castro, born in the eastern hamlet of Biran, has ruled Cuba since Jan. 1, 1959. He celebrated by drinking champagne and eating cake at a party that lasted until dawn. He then traveled deep into the rain forest with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to inaugurate a multimillion-dollar power project.
