University Has Enough at End, Tops Laguna Beach

Jenna Green’s goal with 2:14 to play thwarted a comeback by sixth-ranked Laguna Beach and gave University an 8-7 Pacific Coast League victory in a girls’ water polo game Wednesday at University.
Laguna Beach (17-5, 2-1) trailed, 7-4, with 4:42 to play before scoring three times in less than a minute to tie the score. But Green, a junior varsity regular pressed into service after four Trojans fouled out, followed with the game-winning goal.
Monica Canby, Samantha Klau and Stephanie Grodin each had two goals for University (9-8, 3-0), which took sole possession of first place in the Pacific Coast League. Laura Case scored three times and Teresa Codini twice for Laguna Beach.
In the Empire League:
El Dorado 18, Loara 4--Jill Kurvers and Ashley Reta each had four goals to lead El Dorado (8-10, 2-0).
In the Sea View League:
No. 2 Newport Harbor 13, Woodbridge 3--Jenna Booth led Newport Harbor (17-4, 2-0) with five goals, two coming during a seven-goal third quarter. Katherine Belden and Emily Glassic also scored twice in the decisive third period, when the Sailors pulled after taking a 5-2 halftime lead. Jacquelyn Gauthier scored two goals for Woodbridge (17-5, 1-1).
In Garden Grove League girls’ soccer:
Garden Grove 6, La Quinta 0--Erin Griswold scored three goals and Jessica Hull had two for host Garden Grove (13-3-2, 6-1-1), which led, 3-0, at halftime.
In Century League wrestling:
No. 4 Villa Park 65, Santa Ana Valley 9--Travis Featherstone pinned Sal Corona in 33 seconds at 103 pounds and Scott Meyer needed just 55 seconds to pin Juan Lucero in the 135-pound match to help visiting Villa Park (5-1, 4-0) clinch the league title.
