Stocker Officially Drops Plans for a Power Plant

An oil company that hoped to build a power plant in the Baldwin Hills officially has dropped the plans in the face of major opposition.
Stocker Resources has sent a letter to the Energy Commission saying it has “elected not to pursue this project.” The 53-megawatt plant would have sat on land in the middle of a proposed 1,200 acres state park.
The project’s application was rescinded when Stocker’s partner, La Jolla Energy Development, backed out on June 21. The letter formalizes the end of the project.
