Alleged Drunken Driver Hits, Kills Motorcyclist

A motorcyclist was killed in Santa Monica early Tuesday morning after he was struck by a suspected drunken driver who fled the scene, police said.
The collision occurred at 1:06 a.m. at Neilson Way and Ocean Park Boulevard, said a Santa Monica police spokesman.
Paramedics transported the 37-year-old motorcyclist to a hospital, where he died. His name was withheld pending notification of relatives.
Police stopped the driver near Rose Avenue and Main Street in Venice. Authorities did not release his identity.
He was booked for gross vehicular manslaughter, a hit-and-run felony and drunk driving.
Bail was set at $100,000.
