Cypress 6, El Modena 0--Kristen Baker was four for four and Amanda Whitney added four RBIs for visiting Cypress (7-1). Candice Baker drove in two runs and struck out 12 in the two-hit shutout.
No. 9 Dana Hills 6-1, Huntington Beach 1-2--Candice Rainwater homered in the fourth inning of the second game, but the game was called when the lights failed to come on, giving Huntington Beach (5-5) the split.

Fullerton 1, Savanna 0--Jennifer McEnterfer of Fullerton (5-3) scored the only run in the second inning on a wild pitch by Stephanie Quam of Savanna (7-3).
No. 6 Mater Dei 4, Sonora 0--Mater Dei junior Brittany Montgomery made her pitching debut, giving up seven hits at Mile Square Park.

Valencia 5, Katella 0--Valencia senior Michelle Whiteman faced only one batter over the minimum of 21 and struck out nine in a one-hit shutout of Katella. Freshman Nicole Silva went three for three with three RBIs and Marissa Trevino had three hits and a run scored.

No. 4 Pacifica 6, Garden Grove 0--Jessica Marical struck out seven and walked one, tossing a three-hit shutout for host Pacifica in the league opener.
