OXNARD — A 46-year-old Oxnard man was stabbed in the chest, allegedly by his father, during a family argument Saturday morning, police said.
Jorge Gonzales was injured with a pocket knife shortly before 11 a.m. in the family’s home in the 700 block of West Fir Avenue, said Oxnard Police Officer Dave Lacara.
Gonzales was injured when he stood between his parents as they argued, believing his father was going to stab his mother, Lacara said.
Gonzales was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center. His wound was not life-threatening, police said. His condition was not immediately available.
The father, Carlos Gonzales, 70, was examined at Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura after complaining of chest pains. He was treated and then booked into Ventura County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, police said.
No one else was injured, and the case remained under investigation, Lacara said.
