A look at the top 10 boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams in the Southland:
BOYS
1. Canyon Country Canyon (SS-Foothill)
Cowboys won team sweepstakes race at Mt. San Antonio College Invitational that included Long Beach Poly, Rubidoux, Dana Hills, Royal and El Toro.
2. Long Beach Poly (SS-Moore)
Jackrabbits are 0-3 against Canyon but still regarded as state Division I title contender.
3. Riverside Rubidoux (SS-Sunkist)
Falcons finished third in team sweepstakes at Mt. SAC despite subpar race by Lino Flores.
4. Dana Point Dana Hills (SS-South Coast)
Dolphins rebounded from so-so race at Orange County championships to place fourth in team sweepstakes at Mt. SAC.
5. Temecula Valley (SS-Southwestern)
Golden Bears bypassed Mt. SAC Invitational but are sixth-ranked team in state Division I poll.
6. Barstow (SS-Desert Sky)
Aztecs move up three spots after winning Division III sweepstakes at Mt. SAC.
7. Rosemead Bosco Tech (SS-Camino Real)
Tigers will run in two-mile track race at Azusa Pacific on Saturday after bypassing Mt. SAC Invitational.
8. Simi Valley Royal (SS-Marmonte)
Highlanders return to top 10 after finishing fifth in team sweepstakes at Mt. SAC.
9. Oak Park (SS-Tri-Valley)
Eagles expected to battle Royal for Ventura County title at Lake Casitas this afternoon.
10. Lake Forest El Toro (SS-South Coast)
Chargers finished eighth in team event at Mt. SAC after winning Orange County title Oct. 13.
GIRLS
1. Anaheim Esperanza (SS-Sunset)
Aztecs unbeaten against California competition after 69-104 victory over Ayala in team sweepstakes of Mt. San Antonio College Invitational.
2. Chino Hills Ayala (SS-Sierra)
Bulldogs move up four spots after finishing ahead of Murrieta Valley, Peninsula, Yucaipa, Dana Hills and Royal at Mt. SAC.
3. Murrieta Valley (SS-Southwestern)
Lisa Pasciuto’s winning performance led Nighthawks to a fourth-place finish in team sweepstakes at Mt. SAC.
4. Palos Verdes Peninsula (SS-Bay)
Emily Vince’s third-place finish paced Panthers to fifth in team sweepstakes at Mt. SAC.
5. Irvine Woodbridge (SS-Sea View)
Warriors won their Division II heat at Mt. SAC and had fifth-fastest team time of meet.
6. Yucaipa (SS-San Andreas)
Thunderbirds placed sixth--13 points behind Peninsula--in team sweepstakes at Mt. SAC.
7. Canyon Country Canyon (SS-Foothill)
Cowboys won individual sweepstakes at Mt. SAC to move to fifth in state Division I rankings.
8. Dana Point Dana Hills (SS-South Coast)
Dolphins fall six spots after disappointing eighth-place finish in team event at Mt. SAC.
9. Lake Forest El Toro (SS-South Coast)
Chargers bounced back from a seventh-place finish in the Orange County championships on Oct. 13 to win their Division I heat at Mt. SAC.
10. Simi Valley Royal (SS-Marmonte)
Highlanders finished second to Thousand Oaks in league dual-meet standings, but were ninth in team sweepstakes at Mt. SAC.
