Death Penalty to Be Sought in Slaying

Ventura County prosecutors will seek the death penalty for a 32-year-old man accused of raping and strangling a Port Hueneme woman in her home eight years ago.
Michael Schultz, 32, is charged with one count of murder committed during a rape and burglary.
Schultz allegedly attacked 44-year-old Cynthia Burger, a car dealership manager, in her townhouse. Prosecutors said he also burglarized the home and set it on fire.
The case went unsolved for six years. Then investigators received a tip that led them to Schultz, who was serving a five-year prison sentence for battery on two police officers.
