Doubting America

Re “Fabric of Truth Is Multi-Textured,” by Steve Lopez, Sept. 26: Jessica Miller, a University of Wisconsin student, in reference to the Sept. 11 attacks, is responding to the idea that America has had blood on its hands in the past.
What is the relevance of this “blame America first” charge? Does Miller believe that the attacks were therefore justified? Since Lopez apparently sees her as some kind of sage, having devoted an entire column to her views, did he ask her what she thought should be done to prevent future terrorist attacks? Does she accept the Taliban’s answer--that the U.S. withdraw from the Persian Gulf and abandon Israel? Does this obviously pretentious, self-absorbed young woman think that anybody really cares if she is now no longer inclined to bring children into the world?
