Internet use in Orange County public libraries jumped 28% last year, according to figures released by the county Monday.
County Librarian John Adams said two new technology branches in Costa Mesa and Laguna Hills helped account for Internet usage. The annual usage jumped from 346,000 to 442,000 hours in the last year.
Overall, there are now more than 500 computers available throughout the county’s public library system. Book circulation was also up last year--increasing 5.5% to 6.6 million items borrowed.
