The Santa Clarita City Council voted to attempt to annex 555 acres on the city’s southern border in an effort to control a 5,800-home development planned there.
The council voted unanimously Tuesday to try to annex the property in unincorporated Los Angeles County. Developers of the proposed Las Lomas subdivision want it to be a part of the city of Los Angeles.
Santa Clarita officials fear the project will block an important wildlife corridor, snarl traffic and damage the beauty of the hills that separate them from the San Fernando Valley.
