Kmart Reorganizes Store Operations

Kmart Corp. is reorganizing its store operations into four regional divisions and a separate unit for its “supercenters” as the company works to emerge from bankruptcy.
The discount retailer had six geographic divisions and a supercenters unit, a spokesman said. The Troy, Mich.-based company doesn’t expect any job cuts from the moves, he said. Kmart said Gregg Treadway will head the new structure and report directly to Chief Executive Chuck Conaway.
Kmart shares fell 29 cents to $1.04 on the New York Stock Exchange.
The new geographic divisions cover the West, Southeast and Northeast and international operations.
