22 Slain in Separate Attacks; Rebels Blamed

Islamic insurgents attacked a home in a village southwest of Algiers, killing 13 people, all from the same family, Algeria’s official news agency said.
Around the same time and in the same area, a different group of rebels shot to death nine people Monday at a roadblock in Sidi Lakhdar, about 150 miles southwest of the capital, the Algerian Press Service said.
At least one of the 13 family members killed belonged to a civilian defense force.
