Security Guard Shot; Police Search for 5 Men

Police searched Monday for five men who argued with another group, then fired several shots that wounded a security guard.
Rony Chavez, 19, was in extremely critical condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange with gunshot wounds to the head, upper chest and lower back, police said.
The men were arguing about 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Chanticleer Road and Fern Avenue, said Jim Amormino, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Chavez was the only one injured.
Amormino said investigators have not determined what the confrontation was about or if the shooting was gang-related. Police searched the neighborhood but did not find the men involved.
