More students are enrolled this semester at Cal State Northridge than at any time in the campus’ 44-year history.
Enrollment has reached a record high with 31,681 full- and part-time students attending the San Fernando Valley’s only four-year university, spokeswoman Carmen Ramos Chandler said. The number tops the previous record enrollment set in fall semester 1988 by 233 students.
However, increased enrollment and demand for classes has prompted administrators to close fall admissions to freshman and sophomore transfer students, and to all post-baccalaureate applicants who are not in a degree program, officials said. Admissions for those seeking graduate degrees remain open.
