A man has filed a civil rights suit against the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors for its support of the county’s annual “Take Our Daughters to Work Day,” saying the event discriminates against boys.
Joe Manthey filed the suit last week in federal court in San Francisco. Manthey’s lawyer, Chris Ferry, said public agencies cannot sponsor events that exclude participation based on gender.
“We’ve tried to be fair about it,” Board Chairman Mike Kerns said.
“The last two years we’ve had both. We’ve got a ‘Take Your Children to Work Day’ too,” Kerns said.
