ITALY

Italian police have arrested five people, including four Tunisians, on suspicion that they used proceeds from robbing drug dealers to finance Muslim guerrilla groups, a police statement said.

Among those seized was 42-year-old Mohamed Sahli, who had suspected links with Islamic militants in France and Germany.

U.S. officials believe that an Islamic cultural center in Milan was the European power base of Osama bin Laden’s Al Qaeda network, and Italian police have arrested numerous alleged terrorist suspects after the Sept. 11 attacks.
