Finnish police arrested a 17-year-old boy for allegedly providing information over the Internet about explosives to the suspect in a deadly bombing at a suburban Helsinki shopping mall.
The unidentified teenager was accused of giving instructions about building a bomb to Petri Gerdt, but police don’t believe that he had a hand in placing it, a detective said. Gerdt, 19, died in the blast along with six others. His motive remained unknown.
The 17-year-old was held on a charge of assisting in a grievous act of destruction, which carries a maximum sentence of about seven years for a minor.
