Mortgage Rates Edge Up From Lows

The average interest rate on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages rose to 6.15% this week from last week’s 5.98%, the lowest level since mortgage company Freddie Mac began tracking these rates in 1971.
Rates for 15-year fixed-rate mortgages, a popular option for refinancing, moved up to 5.56% from last week’s 5.34%, the lowest level since Freddie Mac began tracking these rates in 1991. For one-year adjustable-rate mortgages, rates rose to 4.27%, up from 4.23%.
