Three train cars landed in the Sacramento River on Thursday after a Union Pacific train derailed near Interstate 5.
Union Pacific spokesman Mark Davis said seven of the eight cars that derailed, including the three in the river, were carrying lumber, while another carried newsprint. The train was 65 cars long and was headed from Eugene, Ore., to Roseville, Calif.
No one was hurt. Crews were expected to work through the night to pick up the cars and repair 500 feet of track.
