Students Protest Fuel and Utility Price Hikes

Students threw cow dung at Cabinet ministers’ cars and police scuffled with hundreds of demonstrators outside the Indonesian president’s house as protests over fuel and electricity price hikes continued.
President Megawati Sukarnoputri canceled a visit to an agricultural institute after hundreds of students forced senior ministers arriving at the facility to turn back by tossing manure at their cars. Students have been protesting 6% to 22% price increases for fuel, electricity and phone service.
