Man, 62, Arrested in Slaying of Daughter

Long Beach police arrested a 62-year-old man Monday for allegedly beating his adult daughter to death.
Police said the man, Charles Armstrong, called 911 at about 3 a.m. Monday, saying he found his daughter lying in her bed, covered in blood, in the apartment they shared in the 700 block of East 46th Street.
The daughter, Cathy Armstrong, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Long Beach Fire Department.
Long Beach Police Sgt. Paul LeBaron said officers arrested Armstrong after they became suspicious of him during questioning.
“We don’t know the motive,” LeBaron said.
