FedEx Asked to Repay $31.6 Million to U.S.

FedEx Corp. said the U.S. Department of Transportation has demanded repayment of $31.6 million from compensation that was granted for the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
FedEx said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing that it was notified by the DOT on Wednesday that the department was seeking repayment of part of $101 million that was paid to FedEx under a U.S. compensation program.
FedEx and the DOT didn’t comment.
The Memphis, Tenn.-based company’s shares rose 46 cents to $57.26 on the NYSE.
