Downtown Residents Protest Police Plans

Architects hired by the city to design a new police headquarters showed off building models at City Hall on Tuesday night, as the downtown area’s councilwoman tried to defuse opposition from residents.
More than 100 came to the community meeting, and many pleaded with city leaders to turn the block into a park.
Councilwoman Jan Perry told them the city had never planned to make the block into a park.
