From Times Wire Reports
Sixty years after the D-day invasion, six U.S. veterans in their 70s and 80s parachuted into Normandy in a reenactment of their wartime jump. Hundreds of people turned out to watch near Sainte-Mere-Eglise, the first French town to be liberated during World War II.
“This is a great feeling ... and with the crowd it was just magic,” said Carl Beck, 79, of Atlanta.
The veterans jumped from a Twin Otter a mile high. The reenactment took place one day after official celebrations.
