Son Is Charged in Westminster Woman’s Slaying

The Orange County district attorney’s office has charged Michael Rizer, 23, with killing his mother in their Westminster home.
The charges carry the special circumstance of lying in wait, officials said, making Rizer eligible for the death penalty.
Ann Rizer, 56, died Monday afternoon after being shot in the head. Michael, a recent college graduate who had been living at home, was her only child. Police have not determined a motive.
