Baze Makes Trip South to Ride Heros Call

Heros Call, who ended 2003 with a victory in the Marathon National, will make his first start as a 4-year-old tonight in the $30,000-added James Smith Memorial Handicap at 870 yards.
Jockey Tyler Baze, who went two for two aboard the Grand Slam gelding last year, including the one-length victory over Available Credit in the National, will make the trip from Hollywood Park to ride.
Owned and trained by Laura Pinelli, Heros Call has won six of 16 lifetime.
His opponents, from the inside out, are Brishane, Back In The Saddle, who has won three in a row against softer, Twotimesthefly, Oak Canyon, who is also owned and trained by Pinelli, Kash To Splash, Tricky Dust, who comes off a victory in the Newport Beach on April 3, and Hi Patriot.
