Tribune Shareholders Sue Over Scandals

Tribune Co. said shareholders upset by the circulation scandals in New York at its Newsday and Spanish-language paper Hoy had sued the Chicago-based media company.
A spokeswoman described the case as a shareholder derivative lawsuit filed against Tribune, parent of the Los Angeles Times, and its board of directors.
“The lawsuit alleges that the directors violated fiduciary duties owed to Tribune’s shareholders in connection with the circulation irregularities at Newsday and Hoy New York. Tribune will seek to dismiss the lawsuit,” the spokeswoman said.
It was unclear whether the suit, filed Oct. 14 in Cook County, Ill., involved a single shareholder or a group.
