Harvey Goldschmid to Leave SEC Next Year

Harvey J. Goldschmid, a member of the Securities and Exchange Commission, will leave the agency next year and return to teaching at Columbia Law School, he said.
One of two Democrats on the five-member SEC, Goldschmid was sworn in on July 31, 2002, one day after the Sarbanes-Oxley corporate governance act was signed into law. During his tenure, the agency has presided over the biggest overhaul of securities regulation since the 1930s.
