Justice in San Francisco

It must be comforting for the citizens of San Francisco to know that the criminals in their area not only have the defense on their side, but now the prosecution as well (“In Search of Elusive Justice,” by Scott Duke Harris, Oct. 24).
Dist. Atty. Kamala Harris says that a “get-tough” policy has no track record of success. What is the track record for the “hug-the-criminals” approach? This could be a good thing. Maybe more criminals will move to San Francisco.
