Re “The Hundred Years War, L.A.-Style,” Commentary, April 13: Let me add to Patt Morrison’s excellent suggestions for reducing the lengths and expenses of our political campaigns: change the terms of our U.S. representatives from the current two years to four.
It’s a serious proposal that has surfaced periodically for many years. Among other things, it would cut down on the amount of time and energy that our representatives now must spend in campaigning for reelection and might even leave them some time and energy for legislating.
