Bus Carrying Veterans Crashes, Killing 31

Twenty-nine Vietnamese veterans, a driver and a tour guide en route to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War were killed in a bus crash, police said.
The bus plunged about 70 yards down a mountain on the Ho Chi Minh trail, which is now a highway, in Kon Tum province, about 90 miles south of Da Nang, a district police chief said.
The veterans, including 14 women, and had fought for Vietnam’s independence from the French and later to force a U.S. withdrawal, he said.
