The History Preceding the Manzanar Photos

Re “Revisiting, Remembering Manzanar,” April 21: Please do not assume that your young readers will relate your Manzanar photographs and caption with what happened on Dec. 7, 1941.
Your article makes it appear as if the U.S. government one day in 1942 decided to throw Japanese Americans into relocation centers without cause. I feel a brief mention of the fact that Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor prefaced Manzanar would have been appropriate.
